1. Is there a user's mailing list for LAM? |
Yes, there is. The LAM user's mailing list goes to several hundred
LAM users around the world. People post problems, questions, etc. to
the list. Feel free to browse the LAM archives (which are searchable
-- chances are that someone has asked a question relevant to your
problem before):
The LAM mailing list archive can be found here.

2. How do I subscribe to the LAM mailing list? |
You can subscribe to the list by visiting the list's subscription web page:
http://www.lam-mpi.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/lam
Through that page, you can subscribe, unsubscribe, change your subscription options (for example, set to receive LAM mail in digest form every day instead of individual posts).

3. How do I unsubscribe from the LAM mailing list? |
To unsubscribe from the list, visit the mailing list's web page:
http://www.lam-mpi.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/lam
Do NOT send
"unsubscribe", "remove", or other such requests to the list itself.
This generally accomplishes nothing except annoy the other users on
the list.

4. Why was my post to the LAM list rejected? |
The LAM list is not moderated, although there are three main reasons
why mail to the LAM list gets rejected:
- Because of problems with spam, you must be a subscriber to the
list in order to post to the list (the list moderators reject tens of
spam mails a week).
This can also happen if you submit mail from an address other than
the address under which you are subscribed from. For example, if you
subscribe to the list with the address
jshmo@example.com, and submit an e-mail from
jshmo@mycomputer.example.com, your mail will be rejected.
That is, if our mail server receives mail from someone who is not
a member of the list, it will automatically be rejected. You'll get a
brief message from our mail server inidicating why the message was
rejected. The list itself is not moderated.
- The mail server sometimes tries to be "too smart" in filtering
mail to the list. It sometimes rejects legitimate mail if it thinks
that someone is trying to send an administrative request to the list
(such as an unsubscribe request). In this case, the mail is bounced
to the owners of the list, who will typically approve the message back
to the list. That is, just wait, and we'll probably take care of it. :-)
- By the same token, do NOT
send "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or other types of administrative
mails to the list itself. The listserver typically rejects them
anyway. To subscribe or unsubscribe, visit the mailing list web page:
http://www.lam-mpi.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/lam

5. I need to contact the LAM Team directly. Whom should I mail? |
Send mail to the LAM mailing list. We all read it. It is typically better to mail the LAM mailing list than to send to any of us individually. Thanks.
