XMPI needs the internal header files from LAM in order to build.
However, as long as you can ensure that the header files are from the same
version of LAM, it does not have to be the actual LAM installation that
you are using (i.e., the one that OSCAR installed).
For example, if OSCAR installed LAM/MPI 6.5.9, you could download your own
copy of the LAM/MPI 6.5.9 source tarball, build it with the
--with-trillium configure option, install it, and then be able to build
XMPI.
If you build LAM with static library support, then XMPI will statically
link in all the routines that it needs and you can delete your extra LAM
installation after you have successfully built and installed XMPI.
