Hi,
First, let me strongly suggest that if you are just starting with MPI, that you take a look at Open-MPI instead of LAM-MPI. Lam is in maintenance mode now, all the developers have moved on to other projects.
www.Open-MPI.org is a very active and helpful community.
Secondly, I have never used XMPI, so cannot comment on what "invalid node" actually means in that context.
If, for some reason, you must use LAM, please follow the instructions on the "Gettiing Help with LAM" web page.
Cheers,

Subject: LAM: Problem with second node
Hi
I have problem when running a simple mpi program. I have 2 nodes and lamboot starts successfully:
~ lamboot -v -ssi boot rsh test/hostfile
LAM 7.1.2/MPI 2 C++/ROMIO - Indiana University
n-1<2954> ssi:boot:base:linear: booting n0 (node3)
n-1<2954> ssi:boot:base:linear: booting n1 (node2)
n-1<2954> ssi:boot:base:linear: finished
When I run the program:
~ mpirun C test/hello
Hello! I am 0 of 2
The other node doesn't answer.
I used XMPI to view the result, it said invalid node. What can be the problem?
Thanks.
