Hi Ankur,
First, i encourage you to try the MPI implementation Open-MPI , instead
of LAM. Open-MPI is the successor to LAM, no development is being done
here now. You will find a large community of user's at Open-MPI
willing to help you get started.
Secondly, If there is some reason to continue with LAM, try running
configure as a "normal" user, which must have the C and C++ (gcc and g++
usually) compilers in the PATH, instead of the root user.

i am trying to install lam 7.1.4 on my fedora core 10 system
but it give some error regarding the C++ compiler so i tried to install
it without c++ compiler and with out fortran compiler as i need only c
