I believe a prior responder indicated that "CC" might not be the
proper C++ compiler on your system. In your original message to the
list, CC was failing to compile some small test programs in the
configure script.
You should verify that you CC compiler is functioning properly -- or
if it is even the right compiler (perhaps you should be using gcc / g+
+ / gfortran instead?).
