in Lam like any other MPI universe whe you you run the job you decide
how many tasks you want to have for example with

mpiexec -n 4 job or

mpirun -np 4 job

you tell the executable job to use 4 processes

Within the program if you want to know how many processes you have you use

call MPI_COMM_SIZE(MPI_COMM_WORLD,size,ierr)

then size which is an integer gives you the number of processes
