To be honest if I were you I would delete (or at least make uninstall) and install the new version but, please wait for some advice for some people who have more experience

I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.7, and we've rebuilt our OS and added 30
nodes to our cluster and figured this was as good of a time as any to
upgrade LAM-MPI. I have downloaded the package, installed it, but
when running the 'laminfo' command it indicates that 7.0.6 is still
installed and nothing is copied to /usr/local despite perms being
correct to install.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
