The above suggests you are trying to do one of the following:
a) either you are trying to start a lam universe as root, which you
shouldn't (and won't be allowed to do)
b) you are trying to have a non-root user access keys that are stored
under /root/.ssh, which only root should be able to acces.
I think you are trying to do b). That is probably why you get a
permission denied error. I'd try getting things to work for a regular
user.
