Hi,

this isn't really a LAM question, it's a SuperLU question. The SuperLU
partitioning and load-distribution scheme is described in the papers
from the SuperLU website.

You might also want to consider MUMPS, http://graal.ens-lyon.fr/MUMPS/ .
  It's faster, more robust and better documented than SuperLU and is
still under active development (4.6.3 was released last week).
