Sorry about the delay in replying -- it's the end of semester, and
we're all a bit behind.
Anyway, Ralf diagnosed the problem properly - we don't handle making
symlinks to executables properly when on systems that require a
special extension to executable names (like .exe in Windows land).
I've fixed this in our Subversion source, but an easy work-around is
to configure with he option:
--disable-deprecated-executable-names
Which should disable all the places we try to make symlinks to
executables.
