In addition to what Ralf said, the reason you can't find any
information about compiler compatability is because we basically
support most everything. To be more specific, we pretty much support
everything that GNU Libtool supports.
Any version of the GNU compilers should work fine, provided that they
are installed properly and can be used to compile, link, and run
successfully.
