I got 9.0.027 and LAM compiles fine now. I am at a loss why Intel would hold
back this version from general release when 9.0.021 is broken so badly. I
suppose in fairness to Chipzilla, they only claim to support AS 4.0 and I am
trying to run on 4.2.

I did get 9.0.021 to run under Fedora 4 (gcc 4.0.x); but I had to turn -ipo
off. I suppose the take home message is: stick with the supported OS when
using the Intel compilers, but it's a damned nuisance at times.
