I have been able to build lam 7.0.6, under the fink
packaging system, on MacOS X 10.4 against g77 and the
Xcode 2.2 compilers. Lam 7.0.6 can be built this way with
shared library support enabled and the resulting binaries
appear to work fine. However I am finding that when I use
the same approach to build lam 7.1.1, the resulting lamboot
doesn't work. I get...

hboot: attempting to execute
router (nrecv): not attached to daemon

...when I run 'lamboot -v ./lamhosts'. The shared library
build of lam 7.0.6 works properly on this command.
Is this a known issue? I know there was shared library
problems at one time with lam on MacOS X but am shocked that
after all the NDA access to Apple that this hasn't been
squared away yet.
