Compiling LAM-MPI for Cygwin is possible but you will be unable to use
ROMIO memory manager.

Read the README file and disable the memory manager. Also IPv6 support
will have to be disabled in the LAM-MPI code as Cygwin does not support
IPv6.

Google around or search the archives, this problem has been discussed on
both the lam mailing lists and the Cygwin lists.
