Hi,
Thanks very much for the help. May I ask what applications you run
over LAM? We're running LS-DYNA, so we get a huge amount of output
data (few gigs, usually), also written over NFS to someone's home
directory.
Thanks again,
Dave

yourNFS system. Not a huge speed decrease, that we noticed.Bob- Show

everyone,Just wondering if anyone has noticed any performance
differences inrunnnig lam off of an NFS mount as opposed to running
locally. We've got a 14-node cluster set up where I work. There is
also astorage server with a RAID array. All of the nodes and storage
serverare connected with gigabit ethernet through a single switch.
We'vestored lam + our program (LS-DYNA) on an NFS mount which all of
thenodes access. In addition, our home directories are mounted via
NFS,so all output fies from LS-DYNA gets sent across the netowrk.
Thesefiles typically amount to 2 GB or so, usually written over the
courseof a days or more.Does anyone think this setup could cmpromise
overall performance? Wehaven't tried intstalling anything locally -
the NFS setup is reallyconvenient. Thanks in advance,Dave Hagedorn
