If the distro doesn't come with these files built, might that be
evidence that this is a broken combination of releases? RH9 has been
far too much trouble, even without going that far back in lam release
numbers or attempting to support C++.
I assume you're aware that several important libraries were supplied
only in patches to RH9. I don't know how to key kernel number to
whether patches are likely to be installed, and I'm not going to look it up.
