You might want to check with the MPICH team -- last I heard, MPICH2 was
in beta stages with its thread support. However, I really don't follow
their releases, so I could be totally wrong on that.

LAM will never support MPI_THREAD_MULTIPLE. We [hopefully] have one
more release in LAM/MPI (v7.1.2); 95% of our effort these days is in
Open MPI which today just opened up its source code to the world in
preparation for v1.0 in October, 2005 (beta tarballs coming in a week
or two). See http://www.open-mpi.org/ for more details.

Open MPI supports MPI_THREAD_MULTIPLE "now" (i.e., it's been designed
and implemented in from the very beginning), but it has only been
*lightly* tested. MPI_THREAD_MULTIPLE will unfortunately *not* be
heavily tested before the v1.0 release (too many other things to do
before then).
