Your description is not very clear to me, but I think that your needs
are satisfied by a simple bhost file.

Yes. Create a script (or do it in your program) that takes your
program's config file and turns it into a bhost file, then run it just
before running lamboot. From what I know, you can't feed node names to
lamboot through stdin, you have to specify a file name on the command
line or via an environment variable.

If you know the list of hosts names, just write them to a file, one
host per line, and give the name of this file to lamboot.
