Hi,
I've seen this error before and it's a bug in LAM.
If you have to source, edit the file
share/ssi/boot/rsh/src/ssi_boot_rsh/inetexec.c:
sfh_argv_add(&cmdc, &cmdv, "(. ./.profile;");
should read:
sfh_argv_add(&cmdc, &cmdv, "(. ~/.profile; ");
The bug you see is caused by the missing space between the "profile" and
"]". Try the rsh command with the space added and you'll see it'll work.

between Mark Olesen and myself on sge killing processes, I've described
it there as well.
