Somewhere along the line, LAM picked up the -m64 switch and put it into
its wrapper compilers. Can you compile/link anything with the -m64
switch (ie., a non-MPI application simply compiled with "gcc -m64
...")?

Did you provide -m64 somewhere when configuring / building LAM/MPI?

Can you send your top-level config.log and the output from running
LAM's configure, as well as the output from running "make"? (please
compress!)
