Wow -- talk about sending before the post was complete. Oops -- sorry
about that!

What I was going to say there is that stdin requests are not serviced
properly in 7.1.1, but since you indicated that you're using the ring
program from the LAM examples directory, it doesn't use stdin -- the
number of times around the ring is hard-coded (5). So this should not
be a factor.
