It depends on what you mean by this.
LAM is an implementation of the MPI standard (see
http://www.mpi-forum.org/). At its heart, it's all about passing
messages (although there are a bunch of other bells and whistles as
well).
LAM has internal, unpublished mechanisms for some kinds of events, but
they're all specific to LAM and not really intended for general usage.
