Sorry for the late official word -- Paul is 100% correct in his notes:
- LAM is OX friendly (we actually do a lot of development on OSX), but
I, too, would recommend the latest 7.1.2 beta (see
http://www.lam-mpi.org/beta/)
- we don't provide fortran in the binary OSX package only because OSX
does not include a fortran compiler by default
--> Tell your local Apple representative that you want a fortran
compiler in OSX by default. Seriously. Customer requests are a
*STRONG* driving force in any consumer-driven company.
- to get MPI fortran support on OSX, you need to build LAM from a
source tarball
--> Note that IBM does *NOT* support xlf on Tiger yet. Hence, LAM
won't compile with xlf properly on Tiger.
- in the beta tarball, we have expanded several items in the
installation and user docs (see the docs/ subdirectory in the tarball)
-- some with regards to OSX, so be sure to have a look at those.
