Yes, this is probably the best course of action. Indeed, it's not
guaranteed that LSDYNA compiled and linked against 7.0.3 will work with
a 7.0.6 libmpi.so (we make no guarantees of binary compatibility
between versions).

Talk to the vendor and see what they can do. IIRC, the patch for SGE
support was pretty small; if 7.0.3 is what LSDYNA has been QA checked
against, we can probably provide this small patch to them which should
apply easily to 7.0.3.
