So I think the IMPI compile errors have been fixed in the 7.1.2 beta
(you can tell that we forgot to regress IMPI before releasing 7.1 and
7.1.1 :-( Oops).

Those linker errors are just downright odd, though. I can think of
only one reason this might happen: did you have a clean source tree?
I.e., is it possible that there was some other kruft in your tree left
over from a previous build?

Those are text relocation errors, and the non-<unknown> symbols should
be defined in dll_lam.c (i.e., dll_lam.o). I have no idea what the
<unknown> symbols are.

I have to admit that we probably never tried gcc with the Solaris
threads -- we only ever tested Solaris threads with the Solaris
compilers.
