Thanks to everyone who has replied, the info you have given me is solid
gold.
I unfortunately no longer have access to the testing machine so I will
have to wait to implement your suggestions until our 8-ways arrive in 4
weeks time.

The single processor run is allready twice as fast as a top of the range
P4 3.2GHz machine, if this is bad then I cant wait to see this thing run
at full tilt!
In /usr/src/linux/Documentation/numastat.txt it states that "Note that
it only works well right now on machines with a small number of CPUs."
Is this still the case and are there linux flavours that include the
equivalent of numactl that works well on machines with 4-8 cpus?
Is the NUMA implementation in SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 kernel
better/different than that in Suse Proffessional 9.2?
If anyone could point me to a web/discussion site that discusses the
properties of the currently available NUMA implementations for linux I
would be much obliged.
Thanks again,
Eugene
