Given a recent informal poll on this mailing list, we [anecdotally]
found that most users compile LAM/MPI from source (either via tarball
or SRPM). Given this, we've decided to not release a binary RPM for
any future version of LAM (starting with 7.1.2). Indeed, the 7.0.x and
7.1.x RPMs are built for RH9, which is rapidly growing in obsolescence.
Given the wide variety of systems that LAM is used for, there is
simply no way that we can provide binaries for all the possible
configurations.
Instead, we'll release tarballs (as we always have) and an SRPM that
can be rebuilt for your system if you prefer RPM-based installs.
RPMs for older versions (7.0.x and 6.5.9) will also be removed. The
6.5.9 RPMs are built for RH 7.1 and are probably not useful to anyone
these days. The SRPMs for all releases will continue to be available.
