Sorry -- I could have sworn that I replied to this already, but
apparently I didn't. :-(

Your output doesn't show a full compile of the tree, so I can't tell if
you have valid object files for where those two routines are located.
Here's some simple things to try:

cd share/etc
rm itoa.lo itoa.o ttime.lo ttime.o
cd ../..
make all install |& tee make.out

And see if that works for you.

We have seen this kind of problem before when users compile LAM for one
platform and then use the same tree to compile for another. For
example, if you have NFS timing issues, the timestamps can get hosed
and the *.o exists, but it doesn't necessarily get deleted and rebuilt
for the second build properly. Or, in some cases, if you hit ctrl-C at
just the wrong time, a bogus .o file is left lying around that doesn't
contain anything -- it'll silently link into the larger libmpi or
liblam, but it will therefore have missing symbols.

If the above doesn't work for you, simply whack the tree, extract a
fresh tarball, and try again.

I will caution that if you are building on an NFS directory, and you're
on a workstation that has significant time differences from the server,
Weird Things will happen in the build that aren't make's (or LAM's)
fault -- you need to fix the time synchronization and then all will be
well.

Let me know if this works for you, and sorry for the delay.
