10 *minutes*? Anything more than a few seconds is relatively
suspicious, especially if you're only starting 2 processes.

- What are you doing before MPI_INIT?
- How do you know when your processes have started?
- Have you attached a debugger to your sleeping-like processes to see
what they're really doing?
