At the Academic world there won't be a problem to change to cmake or
whaever tool you choose. Perhaps i would spend some time learning the
process of building lam.
Using pre compiled lam is something that i never did. So there's no
point in requesting it for specific platforms. However i use lam mainly
on intel linux: x86 and xeon. Usualy compiled with intel compilers
(ifort and icc).
