I note that there were some other replies to this message; I'm
unfamiliar with FreeBSD. If it's instability in the OS, LAM won't be
able to help much here. For example, if laminfo hangs, this is pretty
symptomatic of Badness.

Can you attach a debugger and see where exactly it is hanging?
