hi guys,

i was thinking about mutex/semaphore-like synchronization in MPI.
most of us probably do this as part of our implementation and algorithms
and therefore has no need to explicit code for synchronization. however,
i was thinking about some generalized codebase for this. while doing
some reading, i came across this:

http://www.lfbs.rwth-aachen.de/~karsten/projects/SYNClib/SYNClib.Manifesto.html

it does a pretty decent job of explaining sychronization strategies
for message passing. also the library seems to be usable. i would
like to solicit any opinions on this library from people who have
possibly used it already. also i noted that it was last updated in
1997 and does not seem to come with source ;-)

thanks.
