There's a lot of benchmarking tools out there. Some of the ones that
we typically use include:
- NetPIPE (http://www.scl.ameslab.gov/netpipe/)
- HPCC (http://icl.cs.utk.edu/hpcc/)
- HPL (this requires a lot of tuning:

- Pallas (http://www.pallas.com/e/products/pmb/)
