Err... I admit that I'm still a newbie in the ways of OSX. :-)

I just run finkcommander and type in "lam" and 7.0.4 shows up; it's
package name is "lammpi" and it's in the category "main". From the
package info window:

-----
lammpi
MPI implementation for parallel computing

Installed: 7.0.4-10
Unstable: None
Stable: 6.5.9-1
Binary: 7.0.4-10

[description snipped]

Maintainer: James Gibbs <jimgibbs_at_[hidden]>
-----

That being said, I uninstalled it (so it's now marked as "archived" in
the finkcommander window), and now it only shows 6.5.9 in the info
window.

So maybe we need to mail James Gibbs to update. :-)

If fink isn't going to be helpful here, you might want try to OS X
package download from www.lam-mpi.org -- it's for 7.0.6 (the latest
version).
