thanks for the responses jeff and pierre.
before i go on, could you please tell me how to reply to the postings
properly so that my responses follow my original posting properly? :)
please find attached a compressed file containing output from when i ran
recon -v hostfile from one of the 32 bit machines; 'tom' in the attached
hostfile.
tom is a 32 bit. dual processor machine, is is simba.
tigger is one of the 64 bit single processor machines i have.
note that i had the actual ips for each machines in the hostfile, but
changed it to the names found in there.
so, recon says something about not being able to execute the tkill command
properly
i copied the command that the error output suggested i try manually (ssh -x
tigger -n tkill -N -v) and true enough i got the error indicated. i have
setup passwordless ssh though, and the other command the error output
suggested i try (ssh -x tigger uptime) executes properly.
when i ssh to tigger and try running tkill -N -v, it executes without
problem.
this doesnt sound a like a 64 bit problem, but i think that problem is still
waiting to be uncovered, because, like i said before, i installed lam/mpi
with all default options('./configure', then 'make', then 'make install')
per the install pdf that came with the download of lam/mpi 7.0.6.
once this recon thing is figured out, then i will work on the default
integer/float size issue if necessary.
thanks
