Maybe they can be seen, but they are not in the PATH, as shown by:

This is a common problem, try searching the LAM-MPI FAQ and the
archives of this mailing list.

What is the error message ? Given that 6.5.9 is not supported anymore
(even 7.0.x might get the same status very soon), you should try to
use a newer version.
