Yet another configure option that didn't make it into the docs. Well,
with 156 pages of docs, I guess it's inevitable that we would miss a
few things. ;-)
This indicates whether "--with-debug" was specified on the command
line. I just added the following in the 7.1 docs (pardon the latex
markup):
-----
\item \confflag{with-debug}
This option is typically only used by the LAM Team; it should
generally not be invoked by users. This option both causes
additional compiler debugging and warning flags to be used while
compiling LAM/MPI, and also activates some debugging-specific code
within LAM/MPI (some of which may cause performance degredation).
This option is disabled by default.

I added a corresponding blurb into the "The laminfo command" section in
the User's Doc.
I also clarified the "make all install" text to:
-----
\cmd{make} is capable of ``chaining'' commands, performing the build
and install in one command. The following example chains the two
above commands (``\cmd{make all}'' and ``\cmd{make install''}) into
one, but if there is a failure during the build phase, \cmd{make} will
not start the install phase.

How's that?
