iptables -L -v
This should print the headers of iptables chains INPUT, FORWARD and
OUTPUT, but no content. If you have some content, it's bad...
I don't remember how to check for ipchains (probably 'ipchains -L'...)

Is it always the same machine (or machines) where this happens ? Is it
possible that the machines are getting into out-of-memory situations ?
