You will definitely need to use the 7.1 stuff (which is not yet released,
but is getting close). We had to do some monkeying around with both the
memory registration and the dyn linking stuff to make it work properly on
OS X.

Either grab an SVN checkout or a nightly snapshot and try with that.
Both are available from:

         http://www.lam-mpi.org/svn/
