Yes, this is probably the problem. lamboot didn't run because your
command line syntax was run, and therefore the lamd's were never launched.
Hence, mpirun failed.

With LAM's PBS (tm) module, you don't need to specify a hostfile -- LAM
gets the list of nodes to run on directly from PBS.
