This is most likely compiled on RedHat Linux 9, which provided
gcc-3.2.2 and associated libraries. Now looking at the download page,
it is clearly stated that it was compiled on that distribution. So,
why you do try to install it as-is on RedHat Linux 8 is beyond my
comprehension.

I think that you should download the source RPM instead and run (as
root):

rpmbuild --rebuild lam-7.0.5-1.src.rpm

which should build a new binary package (and it tells you where it put
it in one of the last lines of the output).
