Unfortunately, converting LAM/MPI to support MPI_THREAD_MULTIPLE would be
a herculean task -- it was never designed for operation in a truly
multi-threaded environment. As such, although supporting
MPI_THREAD_MULTIPLE is definitely on our to-do list, it won't happen in
the LAM/MPI 7.x series.
You may wish to look at LA-MPI (http://public.lanl.gov/lampi/) -- they
support MPI_THREAD_MULTIPLE.
