Absolutely first thing is to use the LATEST 2.4.X kernel...
gigabit ethernet drivers are still in flux. Be sure to
check support for the specific chip that your board uses!!

We wound up replacing 20 MB's because the onboard gigE chip,
a Broadcom, that may NOW be supported by a driver directly
from Broadcom, but wasn't when we needed it ;^(
