Hi Everyone!
We use Redhat Linux with LAM-MPI. And that works super.
Just one comment on 'installing everything':
We are using RH 8.0 (maybe RH 9.0 behaves the same way). Anyhow,
installing everything implies, that an earlier version of LAM is also
installed. Any attempt to remove the LAM rpm has failed. Appearently,
the older version needs to be removed before the new one is installed.
Configuring and installing the new LAM reports AKO, but 'mpif77 -showme'
reveals that the wrapper compiler is not using the correct compiler.
Our attitude to that problem is to install only what we know is needed
(of RH linux). You can always install additional packets lateron,
including rpm's from the RH distribution disks.
Maybe the LAM developers can comment on, whether it would suffice to
remove the lam directories (/usr/lam and soforth), or do some
environment variables or links need to be removed before attempting to
install the new LAM distribution.
Best regards, Jess
