Ah - I didn't realize you were updating from a previous version. That
could be causing some problems. I can't duplicate your conditions, and
installing 6.5.9 on Panther followed by 7.0.2 doesn't seem to cause any
problems. Can you try the installation again, and save the log
generated by Installer.app? When the error occurs, rather than
quiting, go up to File, then Show Log. Click "save" in the window that
pops up. If you could send me the saved log file, that would probably
shed some light on why you are seeing failures.
