I'm having a few problems building LAM 7.0.2 on OS X 10.3

I downloaded the 7.0.2 tarball and did a
./configure

However, I get lots of errors from sed ( e.g.)

config.status: creating share/trillium/Makefile
sed: 12: ./confstat5F4VuN/subs-2.sed: unescaped newline inside
substitute pattern

And all the "Makefile"s are empty
