Hello,

Apologies for the late reply. MPI does not have an equivalent for the
wait() system call, so you might code your application in such a way that
the Child sends a message to the Parent indicating that it is exiting.
After the Parent receives this message, it can call MPI_Comm_free on the
communicator that was returned from the call to MPI_Comm_spawn().

Hope this helps.

->hi,
   I am new to Lam Mpi. We are trying to device a scheduler that does on demand scheduling. so when we need to speed up the execution of a particular job we want to expand the number of nodes on which the job is executing, so that the job finishes before the deadline.
   I was looking into MPI_Comm_Spawn, which can be used to spawn new processes.
   Is there any way for the spawning parent to know if the spawned child process has finished executing?
thanks in advance,
Satya.
