It depends on how you installed the first version.
If you installed 6.5.6 via RPM (perhaps the RH-installed RPM?), then you
should just be able to "rpm -e lam".
If you installed 6.5.6 from source, then you'll need to un-tar a 6.5
tarball (for best results, use the 6.5.6 source --- although that's no
longer available from us -- but hypothetically, even the 6.5.9 source
should do), and configure it with the same options as it was originally
configured (e.g., --prefix). Then do "make uninstall".
