This list will no longer accept posts from addresses that are not
subscribed. We get posts from two kinds of unsubscribed addresses:
1. People who have never posted before
2. People who have subscribed, but are sending from a different e-mail
address than their subscribed adddress
Both kinds will now be unconditionally rejected by the list. This is now
marked in big red messages on the LAM web pages.
We used to review each mail as it arrived and discard the spam / allow
legitimate posts. The LAM list now receives far too much spam per day for
any of us to continue this review process (for example, there are
currently 47 messages waiting in moderation, all of which are spam).
Sorry folks, we just don't have the time. :-(
Hence, all posts from an unsubscribed address will be rejected.
Note that if you accidentally post from the "wrong" address (I've done
this many times :-), you will get a message back that your message was
rejected. So you'll know that it didn't work.
I realize that sending this to the list is somewhat pointless (after all,
you're already subscribed), but I wanted this message in the web archives.
