This is because the IMPI test clients were never intended to be used on
little endian machines (we did all of our testing on Solaris).
Unfortunately, the documentation failed to mention that. :-)
So I updated the test clients to work on any machines (regardless of
endian), and posted IMPI server v1.3 on its web page.
Just to tie up the thread for the web archives: in further discussions
with Bernhard off the list, IMPI is not really the direction that his
project needs. If anyone wants to the details, mail me off-list.
